Derby cycle track
I have just received the email below via Alfreton CTC:
Derby Closed Cycle Circuit - planning meeting this Thursday
Thanks for all the support you've already provided for the Derby Closed Cycle Circuit.
The final stages of making this happen are now approaching with the City Council's planning committee meeting this Thursday to decide on the application. To show the level of support for the proposals, we'd like as many supporters as possible to meet outside the Council House at 5pm on Thursday 6th Feb. Please come along if you can.
Despite a number of changes to the plans to accommodate their concerns, there remains a very vocal opposition from various professional wildlife groups. It is important that the planning committee appreciate all the benefits of the proposed development and how the proposals provide for both a closed cycle circuit AND an (albeit a little smaller) nature reserve. The cycle track will become a major centre for the training of new cyclists, not just for competitive sport, but for everyday journeys by ordinary people in Derby.
The planning committee who will decide on the application is:
Sara Bolton
Phil Bailey
Mike Carr
Frank Harwood
Philip Hickson
Jangir Khan
Shiraz Khan
Joe Naitta
Gulfraz Nawaz
Paul Pegg
If you have the chance to give your opinion to the planning committee members (either face to face or by email) then please do so.
We hope to see you at the Council House on Thursday. Let's make this exciting proposal to improve cycling provision in Derby happen!
