Mary Towneley Loop Cyclocross Event Sunday 9 August
Good training for the NDCXL season.................
http://mtlcx.com/2015/03/04/about/
Welcome to the inaugural Mary Towneley Loop Cyclocross, a 75km long bridleway loop named in honour of Lady Mary Towneley who campaigned tirelessly to open up our landscape for recreational use.
Now Lady Towneley had a horse, however we’re challenging you to complete the loop on cyclocross bikes. A challenge indeed with the cobbles, setts, packhorse tracks and wild open moorland. Not for the feint hearted, this is a challenging route, steep descents will test your skills and your bikes.
The route is fully signed and we’ll be out on course with two feed stations loaded with goodies.
Riders will also be given a Brevet card to be stamped at checkpoints. All completed cards will receive a limited edition cloth badge designed by Matthew Burton Illustration and a certificate of completion.
Now we know what you’re thinking, all those gates! Well in order to make the route better for everyone we’ll be donating a percentage of your entry fee to National Trails to buy sprung closures for those gates.
Now get training and don’t forget to have your bike in good working order, carry spare tubes, spare brake pads and even though it’s August it’s best to be prepared for the weather!
Event Entry is handled by British Cycling’s tried and tested online system – enter online for £25, or enter on the day for £30
Bike: You can ride what ever bike you fancy – CX or MTB – and there’s only a small section of carrying: well, it wouldn’t be ‘cross if it didn’t have a bit of everything would it?
Nutrition: We’re kindly sponsored by Clifbar again with their super tasty bars and gels. There’s hot food and drink at the finish too.
When: The Mary Towneley Loop Cyclocross takes place on Sunday 9th August 2015, with the first riders getting underway at 9am.
Where: The event HQ is Watergrove Reservoir, Ramsden Road, Wardle, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom, OL12 9LB
