Well done Sarah...

Norton Charity Cross
Location: Graves Park, Sheffield
Event: 3 November 2013
Report: Clare Crabtree/Snowdon Sports
Mansfield Road Club’s John Harper secured victory in Norton Wheelers’ charity cross in Sheffield on Sunday, crossing the line 26 seconds clear of his rival Andy Stuart (Nottingham Clarion).

Harper, 35, got away into an early lead on the first lap of the race, which was run off in wet and muddy conditions on a technical course.
He led for the first three laps, but 30-year-old Nottingham rider Stuart caught up with him and took the lead for a couple of laps. However, Harper hit back to re-take the lead and held on for the win.
Local veteran Dan Cook (High Peak Cycles), 44 and from Sheffield, had been third for much of the race. But a mechanical problem saw him push his bike up the finish drag, with city rival James Thompson, the 36-year-old Langsett Cycles rider, just overtaking him in the closing few metres.
Another Sheffield rider, Lynn Bland (Norton Wheelers) was fastest female, while Harry Cooper-Oldroyd (Kirklees Cycling Academy) won the youth race.

Mansfield Road Club’s John Harper secured victory in the SJVW race at Norton Wheelers’ charity cross in Sheffield, crossing the line 26 seconds clear of his rival Andy Stuart (Nottingham Clarion).

Another Sheffield rider, Lynn Bland (Norton Wheelers) was fastest female, while Harry Cooper-Oldroyd (Kirklees Cycling Academy) won the youth race.

The Under-12, Under-10 and Under-8 fields tackled a similarly technical course with a long muddy drag, slippery and deep stream crossing and some challenging off-camber. Undaunted, they put on a great display, with Oliver Subbott and Tia Carr taking the honours in the Under-8 race and Taylor Carr and Sarah Briggs in the Under-12s. The under-10 race was run off within the Under-12s and the category winners were Sam Gould and Charlotte Connley.
