Paid Local Rider Escorts required! Empty Paid Local Rider Escorts required!

My name is Paul Magner and I run a sports event management business called TrailPlus from my home in the Peak District.

I am organising a major charity event for the Lloyds Banking Group that will see 68 employees embark on a 4-day challenge event in September, seeking to raise over £250,000 for Mental Health UK. Participants will start off in each of the four home nations and ascend the highest mountain in their respective country and the final day involves a half marathon into the centre of Birmingham. But in between they will be required to tackle a 100 mile Peak District ride.

It will be quite an undertaking and as part of the project all the participants will be invited to a special training weekend taking place at the Thornbridge Outdoor Centre, Great Longstone, DE45 1NY on the 9 -11th June.

The plan for Saturday 10th June will be to give everyone a c5 hr training ride. We will be expecting a varies range of abilities and envisage splitting the group into perhaps three different pace levels and coming up with a plan that provides for an enjoyable ride whilst managing safety at all times.

I would like to involve some local riders as rider escorts and would propose to pay a fee of £75 per rider for their time – be this a payment made direct to the rider or, perhaps, made to the club if it were seen to be a fund raising opportunity. Might this approach be of interest to Matlock cycling club or some of its’ members?

The schedule of the day is still being worked on but I suspect we will look to get out from the centre by 10:30 am and probably plan some clover-leaf route(s) that would allow for everyone to pop back at , say, 13:00 hrs for lunch before heading off again for a further 3hrs. But this detail is still being worked on.

The weekend is being booked and organised by TrailPlus and will be Risk Assessed with staff from ‘my side’ in place to assist with distant recovery if required. Our business carries £10,000,000 Public Liability cover and we would ensure that any activity or service undertaken by an escort rider(s) was suitably ‘insured’.

The actual charity ride itself will take place on Wednesday 6th September starting and finishing near Macclesfield- we will be seeking out escort riders on this day too.

In thanking you for your consideration I would welcome your feedback and will happily respond to any request for further information.

Many thanks,

Paul
