ICON Talented athlete Bursary applications open

Please pass the below information on to your athletes:

As of today, the ‘ICON’ bursary which supports talented Derbyshire athletes is open for applications. The application process runs from Wednesday 3rd September 2014 until Tuesday 30th September 2014. Successful applicants will need to evidence that they successfully competed at a National or International level between 1st September 2013 and 31st August 2014. Additionally applicants will need to provide details of their future sporting aspirations.

Please ensure that you have fully read and understand the eligibility criteria prior to completing the application form as this has changed for 2014. The eligibility criteria can be found within the ICON application guidance on the Derbyshire Sport website http://www.derbyshiresport.co.uk/icon/apply_athlete/default.asp

Application forms are available to download from the Derbyshire sport website: http://www.derbyshiresport.co.uk/icon/apply_athlete/default.asp Please ensure you provide all the required information, including details of athletic performances and contact details for someone within your Sport’s Governing Body who can verify these details. If these details are not provided, it is highly unlikely that your application will be successful.

Last year we received 214 applications, 142 of these were successful and received a bursary of between £50 and £250 totalling £22,950.

After the 30th September the application process will close and all applications will be sent to a representative from your specific sport for verification. A panel of experts working for a range of sporting organisations within Derbyshire will review all applications on the 10th November 2014 and details of their decisions will be circulated from the 14th November 2014.
